Become an independent musician who plays from the heart!
I’m Lauren Carey Kevin - a piano and voice teacher based in Sydney.
I teach people of all ages — from 9 years through to adults — to become independent pianists who can understand music on their own, with the competency to express themselves freely.
Whether you’re new to music or seeking to fill in gaps from years ago, our focus will be on building real skills in a warm and encouraging environment.
As a growing musician, you are a complete individual. With 15 + years of experience, I readily adapt to your personality and goals. I keep a smaller studio so I can give each student focused attention.
My aim for every student is that you develop a relationship with music that is genuinely yours and lasts for life.

This includes both written scores and playing chords from lead sheets, as well as relevant music theory. All students explore composition, whether instrumental pieces or songs.

Who This Is For
I work with students aged 9 through to adult, including:
Beginners who want to build strong foundations from the start
Adults who’d like to understand how music really works
Students with gaps in music reading, technique or theory
Self-learners ready to move beyond memorisation and video tutorials
Anyone seeking to develop musical competency and confidence
How It Works
First lesson: We’ll assess where you're at and talk about what we want to focus on.
Ongoing: I work with students who are ready to practise regularly. We’ll work together to build this discipline according to age, schedule and goals. All you need is the willingness to progress!
Repertoire: We'll look to include your favourite music wherever possible. If a piece is too advanced, I'll often create a custom arrangement so you can play it safely.

You have been the best thing ever for her and her love of the piano. If I’d been asked a couple of years ago whether she would still be playing now, I would have doubted it. Now she absolutely loves it. A teacher just like you is what we’ll be looking for.— Julia W.
